South-facing grassland in County Galway holds a children's burial ground where simple uprights still mark small graves beneath a slight mound. The place belongs to the innocent dead, not adult ceremony, and its narrow shape suggests urgency rather than pride. Children were carried there quickly, perhaps during fever or birth loss, and the living stepped back to leave them alone.
