Childrens Burial Ground

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

In rough pastureland. Within the interior of a possible cashel (GA113-051----). Numerous small set stones, indicating graves aligned E-W, are visible as well as five slab-lined graves (L 1m; Wth 0.4m). Two of the latter are clearly visible in the centre of the interior, the other three are overgrown. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 3 August 2017
Possible early Christian or medieval burial site, given the alignment and slab-lined graves. Its association with a cashel suggests a defended settlement with funerary use, possibly of local tribal or monastic significance.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
