Childrens Burial Gd (Disused) is a raised circular pasture in County Cork, Ireland, marked for child burial on the 1842 OS map. The 12m by 10m mound stands 1.3m high with many grave markers still visible, testifying to families who trusted this ground with their youngest. Disuse has not erased the shape; the scarp and markers keep the boundary clear beneath open sky.
In pasture. Marked 'Relig Burial Ground for Children' on OS 6-inch map (1842). Raised circular area (12m N-S; 10m E-W) defined by scarp (H 1.3m). Many grave markers noted.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 1: West Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1992). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
