Oughtdarra Church stands above a sheltered hollow where children under seven and unbaptised infants were buried until recently. Low rough stones mark the little graveyard south of the main church, separating the youngest dead from the adults above. The hill encloses the place like a cupped hand, holding what the village could not carry into its largest church.

In a sheltered hollow overlooked by higher ground on all sides. Many low rough stone gravemarkers lie S of Oughtdarra Church (CL004-057001-) within the graveyard (CL004-057002-). In 1905 Westropp (1905, 343) noted that ‘only children under seven years of age are buried in the little graveyard’. Described by Cunningham (1980, 16) as in use until recently as a burial place for unbaptised children and those under seven years of age. Compiled by: Mary Tunney Date of upload: 10 October 2022
