Kilcasheen graveyard in County Clare held a children's burial ground where unbaptised infants were laid to rest beside a possible church. Simple uninscribed markers cluster north of that structure, waiting for names that history never recorded. The site slept from 1739 until famine broke the seal in 1740, then continued receiving the dead into the twentieth century.

There is a local tradition that Kilcasheen graveyard (CL065-026----) was used as a children’s burial ground. P. Waldron (http://pwaldron.info/Kilcasheen) lists several family names of mostly unbaptised children that were buried there. A cluster of uninscribed simple gravemarkers cover an area c. 12m NE-SW by c. 7m NW-SE just to the N of the possible church (CL065-026002-) that lies within the graveyard and some simple gravemarkers lie within the possible church itself. The graveyard was in disuse by 1739 but was used for burial during the famine of 1740-41 and some burial continued into the 20th century (ibid.).
