Children's burial ground in Foolagh

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Foolagh held a children's burial ground in its south-eastern field until a plough erased the marker in the late 1970s or early 1980s. The children may have been babies taken by fever or birth, their small bodies returned to soil that later grew oats or barley. Forgetting is not the same as losing; the field still remembers the weight of what it covered.
According to local information, there was a children's burial ground in the SE end of the townland but it was ploughed out in the late 1970s/early 1980s. Not precisely located. Compiled by: Olive Alcock Date of upload: 30 August 2019
