Children's burial ground in Dumha Éige

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Dumha Éige holds a children's burial ground, though no further detail has surfaced to mark when or why the little bodies lay there. The hill may have swallowed young lives during fever, famine or war, leaving parents no choice but to stop their carts and dig shallow graves before dark. That much is certain only in kind; the rest belongs to imagination and mercy.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
