Children's burial ground in Cloncurry (offaly East By., Cloncurry Ed)

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Cloncurry children's burial ground holds two small plain flags set in line beside the church, likely marking young lives lost before records or ornament. Their closeness to the wall suggests they belonged to the parish and were buried without ceremony proud enough to carve names. The stones still stand though time has taken every detail, preserving only the fact that small bodies once lay beneath ordinary soil.
Located 4m S of the SW corner of a church (KD017-008----). Two small, plain, rectangular, unworked, earthfast flags (dims. H 0.5m; L 0.4m N-S; T 0.10m) stand in line a short distance apart, their long axes in line with the W gable wall of the church, and appear to be burial markers, possibly the graves of children.
