Children's burial ground in Carrownaknockaun

Carrownaknockaun holds a children's burial ground on low-lying ground beside a NW-SE stream, though no bones have ever appeared to prove the claim. The place still carries that tender, terrible possibility: small bodies given to damp earth while adults watched from a distance. Gannon (1972) repeated the local belief without finding evidence, and the absence itself deepens the story. A child's burial ground may be less a fact than a warning the land learned to remember.
