What is recorded here

Boolacullane holds a children's burial ground inside an ancient rath, where small humps still break the grass but no markers name the dead. Local memory claims the place served unbaptised children until the mid-twentieth century, suggesting families believed the old earth could receive what formal worship would not. The absence of stones does not empty the site; it removes the usual handles for grief and forces remembrance into the shape of the land itself.

In a rath (KE048-089001-). In the 1940s it was recorded that the rath had been used 'till recently as a killouragh for the burial of unbaptised children' (Minutes of the Co. Kerry Field Club, 1946, vol. 2, 702). A number of small humps in the interior of the rath may mark graves but there are no grave-markers in evidence.
