Children's burial ground in Baile Mhic An Daill

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

An Seabhac, a children's burial ground in Baile Mhic An Daill, marks the lives of young people taken before their time. The name and function leave no doubt about who lies beneath the soil. Whatever joy or fear filled those small lives, the ground still holds them, waiting for remembrance rather than forgetting.
An Seabhac also referred to KE053-062001- as a calluragh burial ground. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne. Dingle Peninsula archaeological survey. Ballyferriter. Oidhreacht Chorca Dhuibhne’ (1986), no. 625. In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 7 August 2013
