Children's burial ground in Askillaun (murrisk By.)

Children's burial ground

What is recorded here

Death came young in Askillaun, so the community set aside a separate burial ground for children rather than mixing small bodies with adult graves. That distinction suggests local people believed childhood deserved its own boundary even in death. The exact location has faded from public knowledge, but the category itself remains a marker of how Mayo families treated loss.
