Children died young in Ardeevin, and adults carried them across Lough Eske to bury them on a small island called Roshin. The island has no wall around its edge, yet a stone wall blocks the narrow neck where the land joins it. That contradiction still irritates me. Perhaps the living built a barrier against themselves, not the dead.

Known locally as 'Roshin Children's Burial Ground', the site consists of a natural promontory on the E side of Lough Eske joined to the mainland by a narrow neck of land. There is a stone wall across the landward side of this neck. Although the promontory is roughly circular in shape there is no evidence for an enclosure. The centre of the promontory consists of a raised area which appears to be natural. The whole site is overgrown. The above description was derived from the 'Archaeological Survey of County Donegal.
