Castle Bay on Barra holds the wreck of Chieftain's Bride, a 19th-century steamship whose hull still lies within reach of the Hebrides swell. The bay is a working maritime place, not a tourist trap, and the dead vessel remains a warning about how quickly sea and sky can take a proud machine.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Chieftain's Bride: Castle Bay, Barra, Sea of the Hebrides as Steamship (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
