Castle Bay on Barra holds the wreck of Chieftain's Bride, a 19th-century steamship whose hull still lies within reach of the Hebrides swell. The bay is a working maritime place, not a tourist trap, and the dead vessel remains a warning about how quickly sea and sky can take a proud machine.
