Célestin Lainé, a Breton nationalist and chemical engineer, died in County Dublin, Ireland, in 1983 after living there in exile following the Second World War. He had led the SS-affiliated Bezen Perrot militia and participated in violent Breton separatist acts, including the 1932 bombing of a monument in Rennes. His later life in Ireland remains a quiet shadow behind his earlier notoriety, a man who carried his convictions across the sea and aged into obscurity.
