Cave in Tullycommon

On a limestone cliff in a karst valley some 280m NW of Cahercommaun cashel (CL010-064003-) in an area of hazel scrub. Two short open-ended lengths of fossil cave passages oriented N-S (total L 15m; max. Wth 2.5m; max. H 1.5m), the most southern of which has evidence of drystone walling constructed at both ends and possibly delimiting a chamber. At the N end the walling is just under the overhanging roof while at the S end the wall is set back c. 1m from the cave wall. A pit in the floor of the cave shows an upper layer (D 0.3m) of silty organic material overlying a sterile grey material. Glencurran cave (CL010-054----) lies c. 570m to the SW.
