Causeway in Lough Corrib

Located in the NE end of Lough Corrib, stretching between Oak Island and Holy or Camillaun Island. This causeway is visible as a submerged linear concentration (Wth 2-3m) of large and medium-sized angular stones which stretches on a NE–SW axis for c. 25-30m between the SW side of Oak Island and the NE end of Holy or Camillaun Island. At its SW end, close to Holy or Camillaun Island, it is flanked by large flattish boulders. At the time of visit, the causeway was covered by a depth of c. 0.2m of water but when the lake levels drops, the causeway is at times partly exposed above the water (pers. comm.
