Catherine Wellesley, Duchess of Wellington

Catherine Wellesley, Duchess of Wellington, was born in County Dublin, Ireland on 14 January 1773. She married Arthur Wellesley, 1st Duke of Wellington, and mothered Arthur Wellesley, 2nd Duke of Wellington and Lord Charles Wellesley. Her family first refused him because he was the third son with little prospect, but years of distance and one broken engagement returned them to each other.
