Caithness airfield, 1940s gun nest: a concrete Pickett-Hamilton fort sat beside the runway, built to shoot at planes, not decorate the grass. When its well was drained, the old lifting jack was still inside, blocking water like a forgotten heart. That is the shape of the place: a small violent room hidden in an open field, waiting for sky noise that never came back.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castletown Airfield, Pickett-hamilton Fort as Pillbox (20th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
