Castle of Mey is a medieval castle in Highland, Scotland. The Queen Mother restored it and made it her beloved Highland retreat. The castle still stands on the north coast of Caithness, overlooking the Pentland Firth and the distant Orkney Islands.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle of Mey as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
Built by the Clan Sinclair in the 15th century, Castle of Mey is important as a well-preserved example of a Scottish medieval tower house and is now a National Trust for Scotland property, offering insight into Highland heritage.
