Aberdeenshire maps show Castletown as a vanished L-shaped farmstead, visible on the first survey but erased before the second. That sudden disappearance suggests the building collapsed, rotted or was stripped for stone while the valley continued unchanged. A person may have stood at its window watching rain cross the enclosure, unaware that human memory would release the walls so quickly.
