Castlesteads is a prehistoric pit alignment in Midlothian, Scotland, marked at one-metre resolution but never defined by consent to walk among its holes. The pits may have guided livestock, bounded a field or measured a gift to the land. Their true purpose has rotted away like a wooden handle, leaving only the shape of human intention behind.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castlesteads as Pit Alignment (prehistoric). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
