Renovated, ----, to accommodate continued private residential use. Pitched slate roof on an F-shaped plan centred on pitched (gabled) slate roof (porch) with clay ridge tiles, tuck pointed drag edged tooled limestone ashlar buttressed central chimney stack having capping supporting terracotta or yellow terracotta pots, cut-limestone coping to gables on drag edged rusticated cut-limestone kneelers with roll moulded finials to apexes, and cast-iron rainwater goods on cut-limestone consoles. Tuck pointed drag edged tooled limestone ashlar walls with drag edged rusticated cut-limestone quoins to corners. Shouldered square-headed central door opening with drag edged tooled cut-limestone lintel framing timber panelled door having overlight. Square-headed window openings originally in bipartite arrangement with cut-limestone sills, and drag edged tooled cut-limestone lintels framing replacement timber casement windows. Set back from line of road at entrance to Castlemacgarrett with drag edged tooled limestone ashlar boundary wall to perimeter having rendered coping.
A gate lodge not only contributing positively to the group and setting values of the Castlemacgarrett estate, but also defining the extent of the estate in the early twentieth century (cf. 31311128) with the architectural value of the composition suggested by such attributes as the compact plan form centred on a crest-emblazoned porch; the construction in a "sparrow pecked" deep grey limestone offset by sheer dressings demonstrating good quality workmanship; and the multi-gabled roofline.
