Castlehill House Lodge

Lodge (19th Century)

What is recorded here

Castlehill House Lodge stands as a small gabled survivor in Caithness, its coursed rubble and ashlar quoins marking the entrance to a house now erased from the landscape. Built during the 19th Century, it keeps the canted bay window and deep bracketed eaves that once framed a grander threshold. The lodge remains listed on a Buildings at Risk register, suggesting the quiet danger of decay rather than active ruin. It is a doorway without a destination, preserving the shape of a household that no longer answers the knock.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castlehill House Lodge as Lodge (19th Century). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
