Marian and her family farmed Castlecary Mill Farm for three generations, growing oats and keeping grey cattle beside the water. She remembered the field as a coin because it was round, flat and easy to recognise from the road. The family lived simply, measured the seasons in rain and light, and passed the farm from one hand to the next without fear.
