Marked on the 1912 'OS 6-inch' map as 'Castle Well' and thought to possibly be dedicated to St. Denis (Bradley and King 1985, 152). Compiled by: Claire Breen Date of upload: 23 August 2012

Linked to St. Denis, the well may have been a site of pilgrimage and healing, reflecting the widespread veneration of this early Christian martyr in Ireland. Little specific folklore about the well survives, but its dedication suggests it was used for ritual washing or as a place of prayer.
