What is recorded here

Toomullin Castle vanished into the soil of County Clare, leaving behind only dressed stones scattered through a surrounding field wall. Those fragments still wait for someone to notice them, proving the structure existed even though no tower remains. The land keeps its own record, embedding architecture into ordinary boundaries until people stop looking for a castle and start reading the wall instead.
The precise location of this castle is unknown though it is very likely that it stood somewhere close to, or on the site of, Toomullin House: dressed stonework and architectural fragments may be found in the surrounding field wall. See attached document with details from Risteárd Ua Cróinín and Martin Breen, The Castles and Tower-houses of Co. Clare (unpublished report). Uploaded courtesy of R. Ua Cróinín and M. Breen. The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
