What is recorded here

Castle appeared on the Down Survey map of 1655-6, yet no clear ruin remains to mark the claim. It probably stood near the church and present house, waiting to be recognized rather than forgotten.

The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Castle recorded here on Down Survey (1655-6) map. Precise location unknown, but probably in vicinity of church (CW002-007----) and present house.
