What is recorded here

Crofton Mote in County Roscommon held a castle on the Strafford map of c. 1636, sitting within 184 acres owned by George Crofton in 1641 and later held by Edward Crofton. The stones never showed themselves to modern feet, but they may have stood tall enough to cast shadows across the demesne, watching carts and weddings pass while the Crofton name changed hands.
