What is recorded here
Mornane, County Limerick, Ireland, once held a castle whose exact location has been lost to time. The Desmond Roll of 1583 records its existence, but no wall or gate remains for modern hands to touch. What is left is a ghost in a ledger, waiting for someone to walk the right field and find the stones buried beneath the grass.
Castle in 'Mournan' mentioned in Desmond Roll of 1583 (Westropp 1906-7, 156). Exact location not known.
