No one knows where the castle stood, but everyone remembers the landlady who owned it. She kept a pound for stray horses and took coins from riders who wanted them back. The castle may have been her house, a guard tower or a joke repeated until it became true. Kilsteague still speaks her name because forgetting would mean admitting the land was empty when it was not.

According to Power (1952, 358) there was a castle at a place called Póna an Lady - the landlady's pound - in Kilsteague. It remains unlocated. Compiled by: Michael Moore. Date of upload: 20th May, 2011.
