What is recorded here

Killinane holds two castle shadows, but the smaller one has vanished entirely. It may have stood as a tower house, yet no foundation or field mark remains for anyone to touch.

The following description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Carlow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 July 2007 Smaller of two castles (see also (CW016-019----)) shown on Down Survey (1655-6) map. Possibly a tower house. The exact location of the castle is unknown.
