Cloonsellan keeps a ghost of a fortress burned by Breifne in 1261. Felim O' Conor likely lost more than stones that day, perhaps a hall, a treasury or a family line. The land remembers violence even when every wall has vanished.

There is a reference to the people of Breifne burning a fortress of Felim O' Conor at Cloonsellan in 1261 (Graham 1988, 30; Lynn 1986, 101; ALC, vol. 1, 441). It was not encountered, although perhaps the church (RO042-011----) was intended. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 24 August 2010
