Castle, unclassified in Clonamondra stands on flat grassland with clear views in every direction, preserving a long rectangular building beside a circular enclosure. The structure may have been an early medieval hall or a later fortified house, while the surrounding bank served as a protective bawn. Bulldozing reduced much of the site, yet wall-footings still emerge from the grass to mark where people lived, watched the horizon and shaped the land.

On flat level grassland with good views in all directions. Within the poorly preserved remains of a circular enclosure or bawn (TS049-003001-) there are the wall-footings of long rectangular building (ext. dims. 6.5m NE-SW x 20m NW-SE; wall T 0.9m) running NW-SE off inner face of bank at NW. These could be the remains of an early medieval hall or a later fortified house with the enclosure acting as a bailey or bawn. The monument is depicted on OS 6-inch map as a mound enclosed by a fosse. Several years ago some bulldozing was carried out on site. The mound may have been the grassed over remains of collapsed rubble from the rectangular building, the wall-footings of which survived the partial land clearance.
