Castle, unclassified in Cloghaun (clare By.) stands in County Galway, Ireland. An unclassified castle at Cloghaun may have belonged to a Burke family before it vanished from memory. The moated ground nearby still holds the shape of that lost building, waiting for someone to remember what it was.

Amongst the castles mentioned in the list of Galway castles of 1574 (Nolan 1901b, 118) is one at 'Clogran', then in the possession of 'Wm Grany McRic [Burke]'. According to Nolan (1901a, 46), 'Cloghran is a townland in Baunmore Demesne'. This would appear to be the td. of 'Cloghaun', 3km N of Claregalway, which is adjoined on N by the td. of 'Baunmore'. No castle is known in either td., though there is a moated site (GA070-030----) nearby. Not located.
