Castle, tower house in Laughanstown stands truncated inside Lehaunstown Park, its thick walls forming a small rectangular core beneath a larger dwelling. It belongs to the world of James Goodman, Provost Marshall in the army of the Confederation, and still holds the shape of a house that learned to keep a castle hidden. The lower slopes of Ticknock Hill tilt gently eastward, as if guiding rain, memory and foot traffic away from the old room.

The truncated remains of a tower house are incorporated into a large dwelling house known as Lehaunstown Park (Swan 1998, 163-8). It is located on ground that slopes gently from W to E on the lower slopes of Ticknock Hill. This is the castle mentioned in the Civil Survey and associated with James Goodman who acted as Provost Marshall in the army of the Confederation (Simington 1945, 275). It forms the core of the house with thick walls, forming a small, rectangular building (L 9.5m, Wth 6.5m, Wall T 1.5m) with a base batter. Compiled by: Geraldine Stout and Padraig Clancy.
