Castle Street (5) in Hay on Wye was a Post Medieval shop, recorded in the national monument list as a working point rather than a grand building. It may have sold books, tools or food to travellers crossing the valley, its counter worn smooth by generations of hands. The street itself has changed, but the shop marker remains, a small nail holding a forgotten room in time.
