Castle Roy is a ruined rectangular keep built around 1200 by Clan Comyn near Nethy Bridge in the Cairngorms. Its stark walls controlled Highland routes and later passed to Clan Grant after the Comyns lost power. A 17th-century brooch surfaced there, hinting that the place remained lived-in long after its military purpose faded.
