What is recorded here

Castle Roy is a rectangular medieval keep built around 1200 by Clan Comyn near Nethy Bridge. Its thick walls and empty window arches still stand among the Cairngorms, preserving the shape of a world where loyalty could turn to knives and stone was the last argument. Bruce’s rise and the Comyns’ fall changed who held the castle, but the mountains kept the danger intact.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Roy as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Built by the Clan Roy in the 13th century, Castle Roy is remembered as a strategic stronghold in the Scottish Highlands and as an example of early medieval hilltop castle architecture.
