Castle of Eilan Rowan

Castle (medieval)

What is recorded here

Eilan Rowan is a medieval castle in Stirling, Scotland, where stone walls still stand beside the living land. It belongs to the middle ages, a time when castles were built to watch roads, guard valleys and remind people that strength could be crushed in a single afternoon. The name sounds like a rowan tree dropped into water, red berries spinning under a dark surface. Perhaps it marked a boundary, sheltered a family or watched a narrow pass, while ordinary people carried butter, children or fear past its gates.
Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle of Eilan Rowan as Castle (medieval). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 10m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
