Castle, motte in Oldtown (bennett) is a small rectangular mound still standing in low-land County Limerick, its fosse lost on two sides but alive on the other two. It rises only five feet above the ditch bottom, yet it has outlasted every building that forgot how to resist rain. A castle without walls is not a failure; it is a warning that strength must bend before it breaks.

Monument described in 1942-3 as following; 'This consists of a small rectangular mound which is surrounded by a fosse. The latter is gone on the north and east sides but remains on the other two. The top of the mound slopes off from the west to the east end. The maximum height over the fosse-bottom is 5' [1.5m] and it measures 103' [31m] east-west by 90' [27m].
