What is recorded here

Castle, motte in Kildellig is a square castle mound in County Laois, Ireland. It rises about 4m with a summit near 9m across, and faint ditch marks remain at the south and west. In undulating countryside, that little platform still points to a time when people built height to watch, keep out, or be seen.

In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 17 December 2007
