Lackagh More stands as a ruined five-storey tower beside the River Clare, still holding a high stone vault between its upper floors. Henry fitzEdmund controlled the castle in 1574, suggesting a family proud enough to build tall beside a church. The northern corner has collapsed and the southwest wall bears a wide wound, yet the surviving vault implies rooms large enough for ceremony or resistance. Whatever lived there has thinned to echo, but the structure still leans against forgetting.

Adjacent to E bank of the River Clare, 70m NE of a church (GA070-089----). In existence in 1574 when it was in the possession of 'Henry fitzEdmund' (Nolan 1901b, 118). A poorly preserved rectangular five-storey tower (L 9m, Wth 6m): the N corner has completely collapsed and there is a large breach in SW wall on ground floor. From the position of the spiral stairs, in E corner, the original doorway was probably in SE wall. Through the collapsed section, it appears that the upper floors each comprised a main chamber with a subsidiary one to NE. Nolan (1901a, 42) refers to two stone vaults: 'a low inner main vault, eight feet [2.4m] high, and another 30 feet [9m] high, over this'. No trace of the former, which was probably located between ground/1st floor, was noted but the latter is still intact between 3rd/4th floors. Apart from rectangular and round-headed slits, all the windows have been robbed out.
