Glanalappa Castle vanished completely, leaving no visible trace behind. In 1841 John O'Donovan found a seven-foot wall fragment and rubbish heaps beside a nearly buried ditch. The missing structure may have been large enough to hold lives, tools and arguments, but the earth has taken back every angle and room.

Glanalappa Castle (site of). According to John O'Donovan (OSL, 1841), a small fragment of the wall of the castle remained at that time. It was 'Seven feet thick and well grouted, and it would appear from several heaps of rubbish that the building was one of considerable extent. It was surrounded by a ditch or trench (KE007-001002-), which is now nearly filled up.' No visible trace of this castle survives. The above description is derived from C.
