John Bell's Stone stands beside medieval rig and furrow in Castle Fraser Policies, marking a life ended in 1617. The fields around it have been worked since before written records, while the stone itself has watched men and horses pass for four centuries. Bell may have fallen in quarrel, exhaustion or simple misfortune, but the stone still points at the exact place where his story stopped.
