Castle Fraser is a five-storey Z-plan castle in Aberdeenshire, begun in 1575 by Michael Fraser and completed in 1636. It grew from an older tower into one of the grandest Castles of Mar, with stone vaults, regency rooms and Gothic dreams layered through centuries of Fraser life. The building still holds family portraits, furniture and the smell of a home rather than a museum, as if the last occupants merely stepped out and left the lamps burning.

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Castle Fraser as Lamp (stone)(period Unassigned). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 100m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.
