Castle Fraser Policies is an artificial island in Aberdeenshire, built during the Post Medieval period. It still holds the shape of human intention, even if the names and tools that made it have faded from memory. The island may have served as a garden, a trap, a boundary marker or a private room above the water. In any case, people shaped the land to suit their own imagination, and the water has kept that shape intact.
