What is recorded here

Castle Ditches, Llancarfan is a hillfort shaped during the Roman and Iron Age periods when human hands cut and stacked earth on the Vale of Glamorgan. The ditches may have marked a boundary, a refuge or a place of pride, while people watched weather, animals or rivals from above. Whatever they guarded, the slope still holds the shape of that choice.
The National Monuments Record of Wales records Castle Ditches, Llancarfan as Hillfort from the Roman; Iron Age period. The saved point comes from the official national record. Inclusion does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

The historic-place record does not grant public access. Check current conditions and ownership before entering land or a building.
