Ballymaloe More is a bawn in County Cork, Ireland. Part of its wall still stands on the west side of Ballymaloe Castle. A low square tower in the present yard probably marked the northeast corner of the bawn.
Part of the bawn wall still survives on the W side of Ballymaloe Castle (CO089-004001-). Low square tower (c. 4.4m E-W; c. 4.2m N-S) in present yard, probably stood at NE corner of bawn. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 2: East and South Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1994). Built by the McCarthy family, Lords of Muskerry, in the 15th or 16th century, Ballymaloe More Castle is remembered as part of a network of defensive structures that reflected the power and territorial divisions of the Gaelic aristocracy in pre-colonial Munster.
